So, imagine having the local pub vibes but in your own back garden. They became prominent during the COVID lockdowns, but I’ve found I’m still using mine regularly some 3 years later. I’m talking about pub sheds of course.
Here’s a video of my pub shed project from the beginning.
What are different types of pub shed buildings
So, what is a pub shed in its simplest form It’s basically turning that old storage space into a mini pub paradise in your own backyard. Although as I didn’t have a shed to start with I started from scratch with mine and I decided to go for a new log cabin.
I decided to go for the log cabin as the timber was thicker and more sturdy, so it felt more like a proper garden building and I thought if I looked after it it would last a very long time and maybe even add value to my property.
It really doesn’t matter if it’s a shed, summer house, log cabin or even an unused garage. If you have a space you can call a bar at home you have joined the growing pub shed community. I’ve seen some fantastic examples of pub sheds in all sorts of buildings and settings.
The cool thing about pub sheds is that they’re like a blank canvas. You can go all-out traditional with wooden everything, vintage signs, and that cosy, dim lighting. Or, if you’re feeling a bit more modern, throw in some funky decor and make it your own designer bar space.
Why are pub sheds catching on?
Well, for starters, they’re super versatile. You can use it to host a small get-together, catch the latest game, or just chill after a long day. It’s like having your own private retreat right outside your door. I have found before I had mine we would invite people around for BBQ’s and for dinner, but I found now they are more than happy to just come around for drinks, and there is something a little bit different about sitting in a bar setting than having a pint in your mate’s lounge.
It opens up the possibility to lots of things you may want, but don’t really fit into your house. For example, the first thing I did was get a few beer machines To turn a regular shed into a pub shed, you’ve got to get creative. Although it can be fairly simple to get started. Picture a bar , some stools, shelves for your booze collection, and maybe even a mini fridge. And don’t forget the entertainment – a TV, dartboard, or some tunes can really amp up the vibe.
The pub shed craze isn’t about fitting a certain style or size. It’s about making the most of your outdoor space in a way that suits you. So whether your shed is a snug suburban nook or a bigger structure, the pub shed idea is all about making it yours.
In a nutshell, a pub shed is like your secret escape, a place to have a laugh with mates, enjoy a drink, and soak up that pub atmosphere without leaving your home. As more people across the UK are catching onto this trend, backyard sheds are transforming into cool, personalized hangout spots.
Cheers to having your own pub at the bottom of your garden!
